What to Expect at a Class
General Program Classes (GP)

Evening and afternoon meditation classes in the General Program (GP) are about an hour and a half. Classes are comfortable and informal. You do not need to bring anything with you. For classes at the Center, you are welcome to sit on either a chair or a cushion.
Classes begin with a guided meditation to calm our mind and to develop concentration. This is then followed by a teaching on how we can apply Buddhist principles into our daily life. The teachings are done in a series: eg Developing Love and Compassion. While a series may consist of several classes, each class is independent. Drop in at any time.
The teaching is followed by a meditation based on that teaching. The purpose of this mediation session is to familiarize our mind with the virtuous intention we have learned in the class, and to develop concentration. Familiarity with this virtuous mind will also help us in our daily lives. Whether at work, at home, or at school, we can practise engaging in the peaceful minds we have developed in meditation.
Class ends with time for questions and discussion.
Classes are also followed by tea and refreshments.
