Our Community
Manjughosha Buddhist Center was founded in 2001 by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso with the purpose of helping people in Taiwan discover inner peace and happiness through the practice of meditation.
Manjughosha is a member of the New Kadampa Tradition - International Kadampa Buddhist Union, an international association of study and meditation centers that follow the pure tradition of Mahayana Buddhism derived from the Buddhist meditators and scholars, Atisha and Je Tsongkhapa, and introduced into the West by the Buddhist Teacher,Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
There are over 1,000 Kadampa Buddhist centres around the world, with thousands of people now practising Kadampa Buddhism under the guidance of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. The worldwide Kadampa community is like a global spiritual family because it offers us support and encouragement in our spiritual practice. It is very difficult to make spiritual progress without such help.
Whether you are attending one of the Center's many programs or relaxing here with friends, we offer a friendly, accessible environment for all who wish to learn about the Buddhist way of life. We currently have two locations: one downtown and one outside of the city.
The Kadampa Center location is in the Tamsui area to the north of Taipei in a large home with beautiful views of the Tamsui river and gardens to relax. This is a residential center where people are very welcome to come and stay for a weekend or longer to learn the Kadampa Way of life.
Our downtown center, Manjughosha's main location is situated in the heart of Taipei, near Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall and the Taipei Main Station, Manjughosha Center is easily accessible from anywhere in the city.
Everyone is welcome.
